Job description






OVERALL ROLE PURPOSE


As a member of the Global Network Appliance Management team you will be responsible for maintaining smooth operations of all aspects of customers’ infrastructure that the team is responsible for. Essentially as a support role, the core activities include customer liaison, diagnosis and resolution of faults, investigation into recurring issues, planning and implementing changes and offering technical advice to customers. You will need to have an excellent understanding of the OSI Model and Networking Essentials, ideally with Appliance Management skills relevant to Load Balancing and Proxy devices.
Specifically, this will include:
• Alert Management of customer infrastructure through tools & systems made available to you
• Troubleshooting and resolution of incidents, working to critical SLAs
• Configuration and routine house keeping through Health Checks
• Raising Change Requests, planning and implementing of customer and internal changes, following an ITIL framework
• Raising vendor fault tickets, managing the replacement and return of failed devices with hardware suppliers in accordance with SLA, utilising escalations matrices where required.
• Maintaining the customer Inventory and ensuring standard configuration is maintained across the customer infrastructure
• Coaching other members of the support team, sharing technical and customer knowledge in a helpful and timely fashion. This will typically include producing documentation and/or developing and delivering technical briefings or coaching sessions for colleagues.
• Taking an active role in your own development and working towards gaining industry recognised certification in the core products supported in addition to developing other technical and interpersonal skills. Ability to learn on the job with a view to managing new devices and technologies.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Skills and Experience)
Essential
• At least one year of work experience and knowledge on Proxy, Load Balancer and/or DNS/DHCP
• Skilled in RedHat Linux and/or Solaris OS and proven capability to build Unix and Windows servers
• Must be willing to work in 24x7 shifts, including night shifts (up to 10 days in a month)
• Must have a keen technical inclination to learn several technologies and not specialize in only one technology
• Excellent customer communication skills
• Proven troubleshooting ability
• Capable of prioritising and managing high volume workloads from multiple sources , working to strict SLAs
• Team and individual working skills
• Ability to guide other members of the team
• Managing complex changes involving working with different teams within hosting




Desirable
• Windows and Unix/Linux Operational and Administrative skills
• RHCE Certification preferred. In Addition, MCSE or Solaris certifications would be preferred
• Vulnerability Assessment and PERL and/or Shell scripting skills
• Experience on content filtering and WAN acceleration products




Qualifications
• 1-3 years relevant experience in managing Linux Servers, Applications based on Linux platform
• Undergraduate studies completed (Bachelors degree or diploma)
• CCNA, Red Hat, F5, Bluecoat, Solaris certifications preferred
