Immediate requirement for NOC Engineer - US Based MNC




Position : NOC Engineer

The primary responsibility of a Network Operations Engineer is to monitor our 'huge' distributed Linux network and ensure the availability of various services/systems within the committed SLAs. The network support specialist not only monitors the network but also analyzes and resolves problems ranging from simple to complex. The network support specialist is also responsible for 'worldwide software deployment' and also for working closely with various ISPs world wide, solving system and network level problems.

Responsibilities
 Monitoring ~120,000 distributed Linux server network using an internally developed 'Network management system'. (Company has largest content delivery network in the world).
 Responding to alerts in timely fashion as per the pre-defined priority levels and SLAs.
 Understanding, analyzing the root cause of an alert and solving it.
 Timely escalation of complex issues to 'SMEs'.
 Working closely with Network partners and resolving non-hardware related problems.
 Create and update internal NOC processes and procedures for better understanding and problem solving.
 Analyze and report on trends regarding issues related to various networks.
 Willingness to work on flexible timings including night shift.
 Installing, configuring Solaris & Linux operating system (Solaris 8/9/10 & RHEL 4/5)
 Administration on NIS, NFS/Auto FS, SAMBA, DNS and DHCP
 Performance monitoring & tuning system (File system, log files & Process-reporting of System uptime, CPU and Memory Utilization Thresholds)
 Installing packages and patches on Linux systems.
 Upgrading Firmware's on Linux, Sun, and HP Machines.
 Co-ordination with Clients and satisfying their requirements on Production Network.
 Creating Partitions, SVM, and RAID on Hard Drivers & Manage File systems Performance.
 Manage Users & Groups, Create & Maintain User Account; Groups & Granting Permission on Linux.
 Process management, Re-scheduling Cron job and Perl Scripting
 Working on the Netcool & Remedy Problem management tools
 Working on the various online hardware troubleshooting tools (ILO/DRAC/OOB)
 Reboot and Reimage process as per the request of Solaris/Linux Operating system

Qualifications
 Technical Diploma or Bachelors degree from a reputed board/university with excellent track record.
 More than two years experience in Linux and networking, preferably in a NOC environment with excellent problem solving skills.
 Working knowledge of Internet protocols and tools including BGP, TCP/IP and DNS.
 Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Must have the ability to speak to multiple people at varying levels within an organization and of varying technical backgrounds.
 Strong interpersonal skills.
 Ability to develop, augment and advise on procedures, documentation and tools.
 Coordination and scheduling skills; goal-oriented attitude and demeanor to work through roadblocks, motivate external concerns and bring about project closure.
 Candidate must have the ability to work in an energetic and dynamic environment, with openness to the demands and rewards of a 24x7 workplace

Educational Qualification:
1. B.E/B.Tech/MCA/B.Sc.
